Huckabee Sanders Gets Hammered For Citing The Bible To Justify Separating Children From Families

On Thursday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders tried to defend the Trump administration’s policy of ripping migrant children from their mothers’ arms at the U.S. border. Even Franklin Graham, a stanch Trump supporter, blasted the “disgraceful” policy and other evangelical leaders have voiced concerns, too. Sanders tried to defend attorney general Jeff Sessions, who spoke about immigration to a group of law enforcement officers in Indiana on Thursday and called on his “church friends” not to blame him for the policy of separating families. Sessions cited the Bible to justify his “zero tolerance policy” and Sanders did the same on Thursday.

Sanders was grilled by reporters on Thursday afternoon and she said she could not respond specifically to Sessions’ claims but said: “it is very biblical to enforce the law.”

“That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the Bible,” Sanders said in response to the question by CNN’s Jim Acosta.

“Where does it say in the Bible that it’s moral to take children away from their mothers?” asked Acosta.

Questions are too much for Sarah to handle, so she lashed out at Acosta. “I know it’s hard for you to understand,” she said to the reporter, “even short sentences, I guess.”

Watch:

“Can you imagine the horror these children must be going through” Acosta asked. “Why is the government doing this?”

“Because it’s the law,” Huckabee Sanders said. “And that’s what the law states.”

Actually, it’s not the law. It’s a policy.

“Sarah, you’re a parent,” another reporter said. “Don’t you have empathy for what these people are going through?”

Watch:

Jesus was an immigrant, by the way, and one that the Trump administration* would deem to be “illegal” if He were part of today’s society. And our country’s legal code is not based on the Bible but Sarah knows that and she likely said that while wearing mixed fibers and there’s also that little thing called Separation of Church and State.

The Trump administration wants you to think that they are doing the Lord’s work by separating children from their families because that’s what Jesus would do.
