Man Who Issued Death Threats To Major Newspaper Praises Trump On His Way Out Of Court

On the very same day that Donald Trump called the press the “enemy of the people,” a 68-year-old Encino, California man was taken into custody by the FBI for making death threats to employees at the Boston Globe, calling them the “enemy of the people.” Robert Chain made multiple threats to the paper between Aug. 10 and Aug. 22, and the transcript of the calls is disturbing. Chain, whose 20 firearms were just confiscated, made a statement to sing Trump’s praises while bashing Hillary Clinton.

“I would like to make one statement. America was saved when Donald J. Trump was elected president,” Chain told reporters on his way out of court, according to Boston’s local CBS station. He also said that “there is no free press in America.”

“Had Hillary Clinton the criminal…Hillary Clinton, who by the way, whose emails were just hacked by the Chinese.”

Putting aside that that isn’t a complete sentence, the Chinese did not hack Clinton’s emails, despite Trump circulating that lie which originated from the Daily Caller.

Chain threatened to “shoot you in the f*cking head” in a call to the Boston Globe.

“You’re the enemy of the people, and we’re going to kill every f*cking one of you,” he said, according to the transcript.

“Still there faggot?” he continued. “Alright, why, you going to trace my call? What are you going to do motherf*cker? You ain’t going to do sh*t. I’m going to shoot you in the f*cking head, later today at 4 o’clock.”

During another call on August 22, Chain said, “As long as you keep attacking the President…I will continue to threat, harass and annoy the Boston Globe, owned by the New York Times, the other fake news,” according to the FBI.

On Thursday, Trump called the press the “enemy of the people” again.

“I just cannot state strongly enough how totally dishonest much of the Media is,” Trump said after a series of tweets. “Truth doesn’t matter to them, they only have their hatred & agenda. This includes fake books, which come out about me all the time, always anonymous sources, and are pure fiction. Enemy of the People!”

I performed a quick background check on Chain and aside from financial judgments against him and a bankruptcy filing in the past, it doesn’t show that he has a criminal record. Things have sure changed for him, though, because he’s facing five years in prison.

And somehow he was released on $50,000 bail.
