Elizabeth Warren Surprisingly Backs Donald Trump’s Plan To Tax Billionaires (VIDEO)

Donald Trump’s pledge to raise taxes on the wealthiest hedge fund billionaires has received backing from an unlikely supporter – Elizabeth Warren.

That doesn’t mean she supports Donald Trump for the presidency in any sense, however.

While appearing on the The View, the progressive populist and firebrand Senator from Massachusetts said that while Trump is wrong on many other issues, this one she happens to support:

“There are a lot of places where he gets out and talks about important things. Donald Trump and I both agree that there ought to be more taxation of the billionaires, the people who are making their money on Wall Street.”

That doesn’t mean she supports Donald Trump for the presidency in any sense, however. Warren stated that Trump’s position on immigration is a deal breaker:

“For me, that just scratches his name off the list. You gotta remember who he’s being measured against on the Republican side, no offense.”

When Joy Behar tried to paint the idea of a progressive tax on the wealthy as a liberal idea, Warren shot back, reminding everyone that it was an idea championed by the right, and one that the majority of Americans back.

Conservatives are going to do one of two things: they will say this “endorsement” shows Trump really isn’t a true conservative, or they will use Warren’s words to paint Trump as a common-sense moderate.

Maybe Democrats are tactfully playing the electorate. Maybe they’re hoping these “endorsements” of Trump’s tax deal will rile up the GOP base and drive voters away from the billionaire mogul. Perhaps it’s a game of reverse psychology, or maybe Warren and Krugman are actually happy to see a Republican finally support higher taxes.

But liberals and progressives alike need be forewarned: Trump only wants to raise them on the top 0.01%, and lower them for corporations (the same ones who already use loopholes to get out of their current rate).

Maybe Warren is swinging towards the Trump-supporting moderates as there are murmurs of her being a potential Joe Biden running mate.
