An Open Letter To The GOP Regarding Abortion

I have a question regarding all the abortion legislation you guys have introduced. Here’s a sampling of a few pieces if your memory is fuzzy.

Let’s say that you guys win. You overturn Roe v. Wade and abortion becomes illegal.

I’m sure you KNOW that women will still choose abortions. They will just be unsafe. Your forced “Christian values” on a nation that is supposed to be against having one religion dictating law to all those who practice a variety of religions will also force women to have babies they don’t want or can’t afford. Some of these mothers and fathers might be abusive or unable to financially care for their child, particularly children born with medical problems.

Seeing that you are also trying to make it impossible for fair and affordable healthcare, you might see where there is a problem. More parents will try to extract money from the federal government to help pay for the unwanted child. You’ll scream that they’re asking for handouts. The battle will be endless.

Someone will HAVE to be responsible and pay for these children that you are saying MUST be born because they are human beings and deserve a shot at a good life. This is where your hypocrisy fails you. You are so “concerned” about life in the womb but it seems once the child is born, they’re on their own if they happen to be born to negligent or abusive parents. You don’t want to deal with them. I can’t say that I have experience being taken away from my single mother who worked her ass off to support us on her own, but I imagine that if I was a child of the “system,” my life experience would have been awful.

Would you have cared? I highly doubt it. You have your cushy life with pensions (HANDOUTS), you know, that thing you’re trying to take away from firefighters, law enforcement and educators. You have comfortable homes with fully stocked refrigerators. And you get to take nice long, paid for vacations. It’s uncomfortable for you to actually look at, talk to and take any responsibility for these children who would be forced into existence because you choose to throw your religious beliefs around as if it’s the real reason you’re against abortion.

I think the real reason is that you guys want a monopoly of power and the more uneducated slaves you can create, the more you can feel like you rule the world. You can feel all-powerful and sit on your heaping mounds of cash that the corporations buy you with, while the rest of us have no choices anymore.

I will leave you with that and would appreciate hearing from you if you have anything worthwhile to contribute on the specific issue of who will be responsible for the neglected, abused and sick children. Insults will not be considered worthwhile.

I do, however, have a question for the everyday men and women who don’t wish to lose the right to choose. Are you going to let these old-school, rich, power-hungry people—who are a TRUE minority—decide that if a woman gets pregnant—under any circumstances including rape—you will just have to comply?

Isn’t this supposed to be a country where the majority decides what benefits us? When we vote in lawmakers who don’t care about the masses, we have no one else to blame when the inevitable top news story is: Roe V. Wade Has Been Overturned

It’s still your choice and it’s never been more important for you to use your power. Vote on November 6 or suffer the consequences
