The Government Needs A Steve Jobs To Help Create Real Jobs

Looking at the political landscape these days is like looking at an iceberg adrift on the ocean. You know it will eventually wind up in warmer climate where it will melt, but at the moment all you can focus on is its immense proportions, its icy and formidable composition and the hazard it poses to navigation.

Republicans; Even An Atheist Knows Jesus Would Be Pissed

If you think it’s odd that an atheist would be making a video about the return of Jesus, don’t – because the point is not whether you believe or I believe, the point is that the religions right/Tea Party/Republicans claim to have a corner on the God market, claim to be believers – and they still behave like they do, promoting raging hatred, an unjust economic agenda, and hatred for that scary ‘other.’

Herman Cain Wants You To Pay More For Your Groceries

Herman Cain’s now infamous ‘9-9-9’ plan may be the most regressive tax offered by anyone at anytime. While the pizza man’s economic strategy might sound like a pizza marketing scheme, the actual plan would cost the poor and middle class while leaving the wealthy to enjoy their tax free cars and homes.

Co-Opting the Movement

In a very democratic and very polite way, the Atlanta demonstrators (who, somehow, didn’t sound at all as though they were from either Atlanta or Georgia) refused to allow Rep John Lewis to address the crowd.

Occupy Wall Street: A Suggested Manifesto

Occupy Wall Street: A Suggested Manifesto

The Occupy Wall Street Movement is an inevitable reaction of people in this country to the gross income disparity that currently exists as a result of our broken government and its corrupt relationship with corporate entities. While the movement is gaining tremendous support it still lacks the leadership and coherency to be effective. However, many of the most successful movements in this country started just this way. In fact, they pretty much all did.

Should Elite Christianity Be The Only Prerequisite For The Presidency?

Should Elite Christianity Be The Only Prerequisite For The Presidency?

Between the Westboro Baptist Church, Dr. Robert Jeffress, and the entire Christian right ideology, it has become increasingly more difficult to decipher just who has been the ideological fungus that grows on the wall of common sense and integrity; making it unclear as to whether it is Christianity that has given a bad name to the conservative platforms of the Republican Party and the Tea Party, or whether it is the conservative lust for political domination under the soulless shroud of a religious misusage that has given Christianity a bad name.

Occupy Wall Street: A Liberal’s Quagmire

Occupy Wall Street: A Liberal’s Quagmire

I don’t particularly care if the Occupy Wall Street protests spark a battle between the left and the right – we’re used to battles between the left and the right . . . except, this time, I’m not exactly sure how that battle will end. From what I’m seeing, and hearing, the movement’s singular lack of focus and leadership (though touted by the protesters as one of its charms) is likely to open a chasm into which Republicans can step and effectively apply their spin.

The Ground Zero Mosque Opens to Zero Interest

The Ground Zero Mosque Opens to Zero Interest

As the so-called ‘Ground Zero mosque,’ which is actually an Islamic cultural center, recently held its first activities on September 21st of 2011, it symbolizes everything that is right about America and everything that is wrong within America. Speaking as an American citizen, it is very satisfying to witness the wheels of American justice begrudgingly being forced to grind in the direction of the same equality that so many of us love to stand up for, place our right hands over our hearts for, sing along to, and make into our representation of freedom, courage and justice for all.

Republican Peter King Calls ‘Occupy Wall Street’ Protesters A ‘Ragtag Mob,’ Warns Americans

Yesterday, on the Laura Ingraham show, New York Rep. Peter King made an effort to delegitimize the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement that has been sweeping across the country. First, he called the protesters a bunch of ‘anarchists’ and a ‘ragtag mob.’ Then he warned Americans not to give the movement any legitimacy because the protests remind him of the liberal protests of the 1960s.

Obama-Cain: A National Ralph Ellison Moment

People want the President to address this head on, but he’s in a peculiar position in that, if he did, certain people from both extremes would accuse him of playing the race card. In short, he has to stay above all that because – well, because he’s the President.
