Dems; Learn To Prioritize Or Suffer The Tea Party

We want everything to be right immediately, we want jobs, we want social order. We want a Department of Justice that enforces the law equally across the board. We want Health Care for everyone, not just the lucky ones. We want to do away wtih 2nd class citizen status. We want Immigration reform. We want more, much more and we wanted it all yesterday.

The Tea Party’s Dejection Philosophy

So I appeal to all the candidates who are aspiring to be the next President of our country; please stop the dejection philosophy but adopt a ‘can do’ attitude. Tell us that you want to improve, how you intend to better our education system, our health care system, our regulatory systems, instead of telling us you will simply ‘get rid of’ them.

Robert Reich Explains the Credit Downgrade in a Way Even the Tea Party Can Understand

For your Tea Party friends, who believe that the United State’s credit downgrade, from AAA to AA+ is a good thing, let the smartest guy in the room do the arguing for you (in a way that even they can understand).

JFK: Candidate of the Future

JFK: Candidate of the Future

With the current climate in the GOP, John F. Kennedy looks like a candidate from the future. What Kennedy was pushing, and what many have forgotten, is a human connection that extends beyond religious affiliation and party alignment.

American Infrastructure Is Being Built By The Chinese, NOT Americans

American Infrastructure Is Being Built By The Chinese, NOT Americans

Republicans in Congress have been objecting to new infrastructure spending that would put Americans to work repairing and rebuilding bridges, highways, schools, airports, skyscrapers, high speed rail lines, and clean energy industries. Now we may know why.

There Is No Wrong Way to Remember 9/11

There Is No Wrong Way to Remember 9/11

I chose not to participate in any of yesterday’s ceremony and for that, I took a lot of heat. Any American capable of feeling was deeply impacted by 9/11. I was no exception.

Unaffordable College Costs Strengthens Class Warfare in America

Unaffordable College Costs Strengthens Class Warfare in America

In a country where further education is championed to compete in the world economy, this is totally unacceptable. The cost of college is always increasing and becoming unaffordable to most. If we are truly a country that aspire to inspire the next scientist, doctor, and engineer, then we must begin to look for alternative ways to make college affordable to all, not some.

GAME ON! The Battle for 2012 Starts Now

I have two questions to ask the man addressing a joint session of Congress Thursday night: Who are you? and What have you done with the President of the United States?

Yet Another Musing On 9/11…

Ten years ago, and non-stop ever since, I have been told that ‘we’ are totally innocent victims of a single and singularly terrible atrocity. That no one could have foreseen it or kept it from happening. That nothing like it had ever happened before in the whole history of mankind. That because of it, there were certain carefully delineated groups of people I had to hate utterly and oppose uncritically – and yet other groups of people I had to love and obey without question.

Ten Years After: Has 9/11 Changed Us?

Ten Years After: Has 9/11 Changed Us?

Let’s face it, everything changed on 9/11. In every way imaginable, the terrorist attacks that occurred that day represented for the United States the most important demarcation point in its history, rivaling even the attack on Pearl Harbor and the entire Civil War. Not even its own successful revolution could […]

How Stupid is Too Stupid to Get Elected?

How Stupid is Too Stupid to Get Elected?

The Republican field of Presidential candidates is here. When listening to the media, only two stand out as the possible nominee, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry. Most conventional wisdom says that Perry isn’t a real threat. In the end, he’s too stupid to win with more moderate voters.

9/11: Where Were You The Day The Towers Fell?

September 11, 2001 is a day that no one will ever forget. Like many tragedies in the past, many Americans remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when the world came to a screeching halt on that fateful day in September.

Reflections and Perspectives of September 11th

Reflections and Perspectives of September 11th

Personally, the most memorable moment of September 11th was being jarred out of my sleep by the constant ringing of my old, cellular, flip phone and hearing my cousin screaming at me hysterically telling me to turn on my television to CNN, because the country was being attacked.

10 Years of Being Held Hostage. It’s Time to Break Free

10 Years of Being Held Hostage. It’s Time to Break Free

As we all know, tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I moved away from the New York area a few months before that day. It still felt like home. My commute to the city often took me to the World Trade Center.

Remembering 911 In A Different Way

Remembering 911 In A Different Way

The most amazing thing about those few weeks after 9/11, was how much Manhattan changed. Not just because we were all living in fear, but there was something else that was happening around us. The honking stopped. The shouting quieted down and the city became, well, polite.

The Real Lesson Of September 11

The Real Lesson Of September 11

I believe the true legacy of 9/11 can be summed up with these words: ‘We have every right, and indeed an obligation, to fight evil; but in fighting evil, we must not let ourselves become evil.’

Obama’s Job Speech Leaves Republicans Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place

The President, of course, anticipated the ‘press releases, Tweets, media’ proclaiming the impossibility of bridging the differences and actually coming to some agreement.

Explaining 9/11

After ten years, what’s the easiest way to review, clearly and briefly, the events around Sept. 11, 2011? Perhaps the best way is to imagine you had to explain Sept. 11, 2001 to a child.

The Misuses of 9/11

The Misuses of 9/11

Bush and his White House team used the 9/11 attacks to make money, create disunity among the people, to break international law, to attack our fundamental freedoms and to increase their political power. Here are some of the ways 9/11 was misused by those in power and the people in general

‘Pass This Jobs Bill.’ Obama Delivers Pitch-Perfect Speech on American Jobs Act

(Video and Best Quotes.) If you were looking for the President to devise an intelligent plan to create immediate jobs and deliver it with coherent, powerful rhetoric and a dogged defense of liberal ideals, Obama hit a home run. The oration of his Sept. 8 Joint Session on jobs creation was on point. The urgent message to Congress was clear and repetitive and it wasn’t so much a request as an expertly articulated demand:
