The 99% Movement Scaring the Elite

Since September 17th, thousands upon thousands of peaceful protesters have lined up on Wall Street to protest corporate greed, predatory banking practices, and a political structure that provides cover for white-collar criminals. The protesters have endured needless police brutality, thousands of senseless arrests, and being mocked in the corporate-owned mainstream news media.

If you’ve been tuning in to C-Span this week and watching members of congress speak on the debt ceiling, you’ve probably noticed a pattern amongst the Republicans. They say things like ‘American families tighten their belts, why can’t the U.S government?’. This is quite an intruiging question, considering Republicans are the ones who really need to do the belt tightening.

Destroying Republican Myths on the Debt Ceiling

I’m beyond sick of Republicans on the debt ceiling. They claim to be the fiscally responsible ones, but earlier this year they voted to pass the Ryan Budget which would not only end Medicare, but would also add $5 Trillion to the national debt over the next 10 years. And now they’re perfectly comfortable with risking another economic catastrophe and recession just so they can keep tax breaks for a bunch of rich people.

This Entire Debt Limit Discussion Is Outrageous!

From 2002-2009, Republicans in the House and Senate voted to raise the United States debt ceiling 7 times under George W. Bush, a Republican president. They raised the debt ceiling with no worries, no concern, no filibusters, no problems, no mentions of ‘children and grandchildren’, or any of this right-wing rhetoric we seem to hear spewed every day from the Republicans here in the year 2011.
