House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) clapped back at Republicans, including Donald Trump, who called for him to step down. Just this morning, Trump tweeted that Schiff should be “forced to resign from Congress!” Trump is taking victory laps even though the Mueller report has not been released. Attorney General William Barr only released a brief summary, and the public wants to see the report in full. Last February, Trump loyalist Matt Schlapp cryptically tweeted that after Barr took over as AG, Mueller would be ‘gone soon’ and that doesn’t look suspicious at all.
This whole thing stinks and Schiff knows it. Schiff spoke at the opening of an Intelligence Committee hearing on Russia and listed contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia that he described as being “not OK.”
“My colleagues may think it is OK the president’s son was offered dirt as part of an effort to help Trump,” Schiff said, adding, “You might think it is OK. I don’t.” He then went on to list the Trump Tower meeting, the sharing of polling data, the call to hack Hillary Clinton, Kushner’s back channel, among other things that Schiff said is “corrupt and evidence of collusion.”

Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas) claimed that “the findings of the special counsel conclusively refute your past and present assertions and have exposed you as abused your position to knowingly promote false information” even though no one has seen the Mueller report with the exception of Trump’s Attorney General. And get this, all nine Republican members of the committee called for Schiff’s resignation, including Devin Nunes who is suing a fake cow on Twitter for hurting his feelings.
Trump has falsely claimed that the Mueller report exonerates him but that’s a lie. The summary by his own AG specifically notes that the report does not exonerate Trump from obstruction of justice.
