White House Aides Are Becoming Alarmed As Trump Repeatedly Asks If Mike Pence Is Loyal

Vice-president Mike Pence has had Donald Trump’s back, but so did former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump never forgave Sessions for rightfully recusing himself from the Russia probe and now he’s out and has been replaced by a lackey. Or, I should say, more of a  lackey. According to The New York Times, Trump is now questioning Pence’s loyalty. According to the report, Trump has alarmed his advisers by repeatedly questioning them about Pence’s allegiance to him.

Trump has not openly suggested dropping Pence from the 2020 ticket, but the advisers say those kinds of questions usually indicate that he has grown irritated with someone. In this case, it appears to be Pence, however, Trump has reportedly grown more irritated since the midterm elections which issued a referendum on the president*.

Most of the people in the White House that Trump has spoken to have assured the former reality show star that Pence is loyal to his presidency*.

But, others have a different opinion of the vice-president’s usefulness, saying that Trump already has evangelical voters supporting him, but they said that he now needs women voters, who disapprove of him in large numbers.

It’s almost as if Trump has become more paranoid than usual:

Others close to the president believe that asking about Mr. Pence’s loyalty is a proxy for asking about whether the vice president’s chief of staff, Nick Ayers, is trustworthy. Mr. Trump has been considering making Mr. Ayers the White House chief of staff to replace John F. Kelly, the retired Marine general — a decision several White House officials say has been with the encouragement of his adult children. But the president has put off making a decision for now.

The Times spoke with nearly a dozen White House aides and others close to Trump, however, Hogan Gidley, the deputy press secretary, claimed that Trump supports Pence.

“The president absolutely supports the vice president and thinks he’s doing an incredible job helping to carry out the mission and policies of this administration,” he insisted.

Trump, according to the report, has never forgotten that during the 2016 campaign, Pence issued a disapproving statement the day after the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape was released. Pence, a right-wing Christian, has apparently gotten over Trump’s remarks in which he claimed he could grab women by their genitals because he’s powerful. Pence aligned himself with Trump’s toxic presidency* but Trump hasn’t forgotten about the disapproving remarks, just as he’s never forgiven Sessions for the recusal.

Last week, a reporter asked Trump about his 2020 ticket.

“Mike, will you be my running mate?” Trump asked Pence, who stood up, raised his hand, and nodded.

“Will you? Thank you. O.K., good,” Trump said. “That was unexpected, but I feel very fine.”

Watch your back, Mike. Or don’t.

I really don’t care, do u?
