Jim Carrey Hammers Trump For ‘Kidnapping Children’ At LA Gala

“We need to be clear. Shamelessness is not, and will never be a superpower. It is the mark of a villain, kidnapping children is not what great nations do.”

On Friday night comedian Jim Carrey hammered Donald Trump in a fiery speech at the Britannia Awards ceremony in Los Angeles. Carrey was honored at the event and awarded with the Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter Carrey credited Charlie Chaplin as being his artistic hero, noting that he was also raised in poverty with an absent father.

“And that kind of pain turns some people, as we’ve seen lately, into monsters. And others into fountains of creativity.” Carrey added that Chaplin criticized “capitalism without a conscience” and took on the “American right-wing of his day” that we are still “fighting” today.

During his speech Carrey took several shots at Trump.

“We need to be clear: Shamelessness is not, and will never be a superpower. It is the mark of a villain, kidnapping children is not what great nations do,” Carrey said. “One half of America at this moment believes there is a sinister deep state diabolically plotting, to what? Give them health care?”

“We in America are misinformed. Reality shows have warped our reality of what a hero is, or what truth is. So tonight I’d like to dedicate this award to those who remind us of our virtues, who remind us of the truth,” Carrey continued.

Carrey then went on to thank Trump dossier author Christopher Steele, Brett Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford, activist Colin Kaepernick and Robert De Niro, who received one of the bombs sent by the MAGAbomber this week.

“I know this wasn’t funny, but it’s not very funny right now. But I want it to be, and I will be again, but God damn it! Let’s get the balance back, okay?” Carrey finished.
