GOP Lawmaker Literally Wants To Go Back To The Days Of Jim Crow (DETAILS)

One of America’s most historic and pivotal moments was the Civil Rights Movement. During that time, people bled, fought, marched, and died in order to stamp out legal discrimination based upon race. These days, most people, outside of white nationalists, believe this to be a good thing – though at the time, plenty of white Americans thought that bringing the races together was an abomination. Well, there is one Republican elected representative who does not believe that the abolishing of race-based discrimination on a legal level was a good thing.

Meet State Rep. Michael Clark (R-SD). He had some most interesting things to say on a Facebook post regarding the idea of businesses being able to turn people away based upon the color of their skin. The post was, of course, about the Supreme Court’s recent ruling that upheld a religious baker’s right to turn away a gay couple for a wedding cake, which Clark called “a win for freedom of speech and freedom of religion.” Of course, people on the right side of history questioned Clark on this assertion. While arguing in the comments section, Clark said:

“It is his business. He should have the opportunity to run his business the way he wants. If he wants to turn away people of color, then [that’s] his choice.”

Of course, there was blowback, and Clark furiously backpeddled, saying of what he had said in the now-deleted comments:

“I am apologizing for some of my Facebook comments.I would never advocate discriminating against people based on their color or race.”

Ah, but Rep. Clark, you did just that. The racist cat is out of the bag. You literally advocated for Jim Crow style discrimination in the public market. You literally want to take us back to the pre-Civil Rights era. You meant exactly what you said, and you said what you meant. Also, that is not the first time Clark has made such comments. In an interview with local South Dakota paper The Argus Leader, Clark said:

“If it’s truly his strongly based belief, he should be able to turn them away. People shouldn’t be able to use their minority status to bully a business.”

So, in his twisted mind, insisting on equal treatment is just a way to “bully” racists. Got it.

Just another racist right-winger caught showing his true colors. You know, GOP, if you want people to stop thinking you’re a party full of racists, quit electing racist fucks like Michael Clark to public office. That might be a good place to start.
