UPDATE: Roseanne Canceled After Racist Tweet About Obama Advisor

Roseanne Barr really f*cked up when she tweeted a racist attack on President Obama and his former advisor Valerie Jarrett. While ABC initially laid low, hoping this would blow over, the network was ultimately forced to cancel the racist Trump supporter’s precious TV show after only one season back on the air.

The controversy began when Barr compared Obama and Jarrett to Muslim ape babies.

Barr protested the negative response to her hateful comments, claiming that “Muslims r NOT a race” (though she didn’t explain the primate reference) and that it is “just a joke.” Unfortunately for her, even promises to leave Twitter and half-baked fauxpologies couldn’t save her show.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said Tuesday — days after the remark was made and after the network had initially announced a second season despite the comments.

The show was already losing people, including Wanda Sykes and co-star Emma Kenney, who said that she was in the midst of quitting when she got the news that the show was off the air.

“Bullies do not win. Ever,” she says.

The cancellation of one of America’s most popular television shows ever sends a strong message to Trump and his allies: we will not tolerate your brand of hate.
