Fox Employees Reportedly ‘Terrified’ Of New Muslim Prayer Rugs And Pro-Trans Policies At Work

Fox News is known for being the media mouthpiece of the Republican Party. Therefore, their longstanding workplace culture of racism, sexism, religious intolerance, homophobia and transphobia is in no way any surprise. However, since the string of sexual harassment and sexual assault scandals that have plagued the organization became such a huge public relations problem it seems that the network is trying to clean up their act, and kudos to them if it’s sincere. Their latest efforts at inclusion reportedly have the employees over there shaking in their boots, though.

There is now a meditation room full of prayer rugs to accommodate Muslim employees’ religious needs. It is the former office of Ollie North in Fox’s Washington Bureau. They have also formed a workplace diversity council, and there will be new directives put in place to accommodate those who are in the midst of transitioning with regards to gender. Not all of Fox’s employees are happy about the changes, no matter how badly needed they may be. One anonymous employee said to Vanity Fair:

“People are terrified. They kicked Ollie North out and put in a prayer room. We’ve got a new trans policy. You’re not allowed to be transphobic.”

Another simply said, “people’s heads are blowing up.”

Well, get over it, folks. These are policies that any decent organization would have as a matter of course. I hate to break it to you, but bigotry will eventually get you shut down. Besides, did it ever occur to you that this might just be the fair, right, and decent thing to do?

Then again, decent people, other than perhaps Shep Smith and Chris Wallace- and they regularly buck the network party line to do what’s right- don’t work at a place like Fox.

Either way, let’s hope this is for real, and not just a public relations stunt. If it’s the real deal, this will truly be a new era at Fox.
