Actor Will Smith Might Run For President, And It’s All Donald Trump’s Fault

Generally, celebrities turning to politics isn’t a good thing. After all, look at Ronald Reagan’s disastrous presidency, and the way Arnold Schwarzenegger destroyed California when he was governor there. However, we do have one celebrity who isn’t ruling out politics who might actually do a good job: actor Will Smith.

The wildly successful star is widely known for his long-running career as both an actor and a rapper. His act DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince was a great forerunner for the 1990’s classic sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. After that, Smith went on to star in such hit movies as Independence Day. Now, he believes that a run for the White House might be in order, seeing how crazy politics and statements coming from politicians have gotten lately. Smith says of his possible presidential run:

“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena.”

That statement is a clear shot at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s statements about building a southern border wall and forcing Mexico to pay for it, and about banning Muslims from America and putting mosques under surveillance.  Smith is right: these statements are crazy, and we need someone to steer America’s political conversation back into a more sane direction.

Now, Smith clearly is no politician and has no experience in that arena. However, he is a liberal, and he helped raise money to get President Obama re-elected in the 2012 election season. Therefore, he is, at the very least, politically aware to some degree. Smith’s statements were made on CBS Sunday Morning, and he is definitely setting his sights high, saying:

“I mean, I gotta be president. Come on! What else would I run for?”

Well, this could get very interesting indeed, and will, at the very least be entertaining. Can’t wait for what this very wild primary season brings us next.
