GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger Gets Shredded On Facebook After Planned Parenthood Shooting Comments (IMAGES)

After Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger made despicable remarks about Planned Parenthood during the shooting on Friday, he had his ass handed to him on Facebook.

As terrorist Robert Lewis Dear killed three people and wounded nine others while barricading himself inside the Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic with hostages, the congressman from Illinois was busy on CNN demanding an apology from the women’s health organization.

Earlier in the day, Planned Parenthood Rocky Mountains CEP Vicki Cowart released a statement in response to the unfolding situation.

“Our top priority is the safety of our patients and staff. Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragic situation. Planned Parenthood has strong security measures in place, works closely with law enforcement agencies, and has a very strong safety record. We don’t yet know the full circumstances and motives behind this criminal action, and we don’t yet know if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack. We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country. We will never back away from providing care in a safe, supportive environment that millions of people rely on and trust.”

Despite the fact that at no point in her statement did Cowart outright say that the shooter was definitely targeting Planned Parenthood, Kinzinger claimed that she did exactly that and demanded an apology.

“When I heard that statement, I thought that was very premature. We may find out this person was targeting Planned Parenthood. If we find out he was not targeting Planned Parenthood, I would fully expect an apology from the Planned Parenthood director for saying that.”

As offensive as this is, Kinzinger didn’t stop there. He also brought up the repeatedly debunked and heavily edited videos released by an anti-abortion group allegedly showing Planned Parenthood employees talking about selling fetal parts for profit, and defended what he called the “legitimate concerns” of anti-abortion fanatics.

“Regardless, if somebody is targeting Planned Parenthood, it’s not indicative of what folks that are opposed to what some of the practices Planned Parenthood commits. We saw these barbaric videos and that is something many of us have a legitimate concern about. That doesn’t mean we’re gonna take guns and walk into Planned Parenthood clinics.”

It certainly looked like Kinzinger was pro-actively defending the terrorist attack committed by Dear just in case it turns out his target was, indeed, Planned Parenthood. And the Internet didn’t take long to slam Kinzinger for his insensitive politically motivated comments as the situation unfolded.

Here’s are screenshots of the many comments Facebook users left on Kinzinger’s page.

As many of these comments point out, Kinzinger’s remarks were shameful. Instead of condemning the shooter, Kinzinger condemned Planned Parenthood and laid the groundwork for defending what the gunman’s actions just in case he does turn out to be a crazy anti-abortion gun nut.

Nevertheless, Kinzinger owes an apology to Planned Parenthood and all the families who are in pain today because of what Robert Lewis Dear did. And then Kinzinger can resign in disgrace before the good people of Illinois oust him themselves and rid Congress of the embarrassment they sent there.
