Thanks Obamacare! Today, 9 Out Of 10 Americans Have Healthcare

Remember when we were told Obamacare was going to drive up the insured rate, because people weren’t going to be able to afford it? Well, add that outdated talking point to the vault of right-wing lies that have now been debunked!

We’ve known for the last few years that the uninsured rate has gone down, but a new survey released shows that nine out every ten Americans now have health insurance.

More specifically, seven million people who lacked healthcare last year now have it this year. The study, which was done by the National Center for Health Statistics has compared the first three months of 2014 to the first three months of 2015 and has found that a major reason for the new coverage is due, in part by, to the expansion of Obamacare.

The report reads:

In the first three months of 2015, 29 million persons of all ages (9.2 percent) were uninsured at the time of interview, 7 million fewer persons than in 2014. Among adults aged 18-64, the percentage uninsured decreased from 16.3 percent in 2014 to 13 percent in the first 3 months of 2015. There was a corresponding increase in private coverage, from 67.3 percent to 70.4 percent.

Considering it’s been five months since the first quarter of 2015, the rate could be even more significantly lower than the current statistics we have now. Obama administration numbers put the amount of enrollees to 11 million for 2015, while the Rand Corporation says a total of 17 million Americans have gained health insurance since 2013.

This report also comes as Gallup shows that:

“Seven of the 10 states with the greatest reductions in uninsured rates have expanded Medicaid and established a state-based marketplace exchange or state-federal partnership, while two have implemented one or the other.”

The only states in the union with an uninsured rate below 5 percent are Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, Minnesota, Iowa, Connecticut and Hawaii.

Remember folks, this is what the GOP wants to take away. This is what they’ve shut down our government for. This is what they’ve voted to repeal over fifty times.

This new study is GREAT NEWS!

Sorry Republicans, no one is buying your lies anymore, because attitudes towards the healthcare law are improving. In December 2014, the percentage of Americans disapproving of the ACA was a record 56 percent. Today, it’s an almost record low 48 percent. Not to mention it now has a record approval rating of 47 percent.

By next year, the election year, who knows how the public will feel about the healthcare law. But with trends going against the GOP, they may need to rethink their strategy regarding healthcare in America.

Soon the day will come, as it did when Medicare and Medicaid passed, when it will not be socially acceptable to deny people healthcare, a human right and not just a privilege that few can enjoy (if they have the money for it). Thankfully, seven million people are probably having a better year now than they did last year. This is what Obamacare is all about.
