Pat Robertson: U.S. Should Be More Like Kenya, Obama Should Listen To Their ‘Truth And Wisdom’ (VIDEO)

“Barack Obama has an agenda against God.”

Pat Robertson, like many right-wing nut-jobs, advocates for smaller government. However, the premise of small government quickly ends when addressing matters of sexuality. Abortion requires the utmost regulation, and in Robertson’s mind, so does homosexuality.

On his show, The 700 Club,¬†(which is surprisingly still on the air) Robertson made the claim that President Obama should follow Kenya’s lead in the criminalization of homosexuality, which is considered a felony and currently punishable by up to 14 years in prison.

“Boy those Africans have got it right. One wishes that the president of the United States would listen to some of his fellow Africans, cousins, to what they have to say because they speak truth and they speak wisdom.”

The African country made news last year when a bill was submitted in their National Assembly by the Republican Liberty Party which would have made the punishment for homosexuality life in prison or even death by public stoning. Fortunately, the bill was quickly declared unconstitutional — although they still dole out plenty of punishment to those who know of LGBT citizens and those who are homosexuals.

President Obama will be speaking at multiple events over the next days in both Kenya and Ethiopia. Politico reports that some of the leaders in Africa have warned Obama to not speak about issue of gay rights on his trip, as it is known that the administration promotes tolerance for LGBT people as part of their foreign policy. When National Security Adviser Susan Rice was asked, she said:

“I have no doubt that the president will feel perfectly free to raise his concerns.”

However, protests by citizens, politicians and clergymen have taken place over the last few weeks, with one lawmaker saying he would tell Obama to “shut up and go home” if the topic comes up.

Opponents of equality have marched saying:

“We do not want Obama and Obama, we do not want Michelle and Michelle.”

It seems the exportation of evangelical homophobia has been largely successful as they lose a stronghold in the United States.
