One Simple Infographic Shows How Bloodthirsty The ‘Pro-Life’ South Really Is

One of the fundamental tenets of the Republican Party creed is the “right to life.” They shout from roof-tops that they value life above all else, but we all know it’s just more bull from a party who just wants to deny women their very basic rights. We know that they are full of it, because they have cut funding for all of the social programs that care for the children they think women should be forced to have. In addition to gutting social programs, the Republican Party loves to execute people. Republicans in the South are the biggest fans of the needle and an infographic by the Pew Research Center shows just how much they love it:

This map is a demonstration of just how “pro-life” the Republican Party isn’t.

In May, Nebraska became the first Republican-controlled state in 40 years to abolish the death penalty. The majority of Americans still support the death penalty; according to a Pew poll, 38 percent of Americans oppose it, while 56 percent support it. The biggest support comes from the south.

The south is filled with hypocrites who claim that they value life, but loudly support the state killing people. Texas REALLY loves the death penalty; the Lone Star State has executed 524 people since 1976. That is more than most of the south– Virginia, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama– combined.

America, as a whole, has killed 1,407 people in the last 40 years. The number peaked in 1999; however, it has steadily dropped since then. Since 2004, six states have abolished the penalty; but, it is still legal in 32 states.

Southern members of the GOP will continue to sentence people to death, because they do not value life at all. The party clings to their “pro-life” rhetoric for two reasons: to punish women and to appease their base. If they truly believed in the sanctity of life, they would never let children go to bed hungry or deny them healthcare. If they were truly “pro-life” they would never, ever support taking the life of another human being, no matter how much that person “deserved” it. But as we all know, the Republican Party is full of hypocrites who talk out of both sides of their mouths.
