Conservative ‘Christian’: Ban Atheists In The Military Because Real Americans Fight And Die For God (VIDEO)

Conservative “Christians” are once again attacking atheists as un-American simply because they don’t believe in God.

In a written column for One News Now in response to the US Air Force denying re-enlistment to an atheist airman because he refused to say “so help me God,” American Family Association hate group spokesman Bryan Fischer called for banning atheists from serving in the military because they won’t die for God like true Americans are supposed to do in the military.

This is an absolutely foundational, non-negotiable, bed-rock American principle: there is a Creator – with a capital “C” (you could look it up) – and he and he alone is the source of the very rights the military exists to protect and defend. Military service should rightly be reserved for those who believe in and are willing to die for what America stands for – and what America stands for is a belief in God as the source of our rights.

The other branches of the military do not require the same oath – yet. But they should. Military service should be reserved for genuine Americans and genuine Americans, like the Founders, believe in God.

To recap, Fischer is saying that only conservative “Christians” should be allowed to serve in the military because fighting for God is the American way. You know, because conservatives think the military is for waging holy wars instead of for protecting our freedom and democracy.

The right to practice any religion or none at all is enshrined in the Constitution, whether conservatives like it or not. It also specifically states in Article VI, paragraph 3, that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”

The United States military falls under the public trust and therefore, cannot ban people from serving because they don’t believe in God, and they cannot force people to acknowledge a deity. Both actions are unconstitutional.

So just to give everyone the rundown of things conservative “Christians” are trying to outlaw atheists from doing, that list includes marriage, saying invocations at public meetings, declining to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, having equal representation with religious monuments on public grounds, graduating from high school, serving in public office, and breathing. If this is the kind of oppressive tyranny that conservative “Christians” expect the military to fight for, perhaps it’s time for members of our armed forces to refuse to fight for this country. Or better yet, declare war against these domestic enemies of our nation who would strip a group of citizens of their rights simply because they want to exercise them equally like everyone else.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a believer or not, any person who risks their life to defend this country shouldn’t have religion forced down their throat. That’s truly un-American and disrespectful to the men and women who have died for our freedom.
