Conservatives Finally Begin To Turn On Sarah Palin As Bill Kristol Calls For Her To Shut Up (VIDEO)

Sarah-Palin-angryLast week, Sarah Palin came out of her batsh*t cave to call upon Republicans to begin impeachment proceedings against President Obama. Citing the border crisis that has resulted in the displacement of tens of thousands of refugee children escaping violence in their own countries, Palin accused Obama of ignoring the law and treating America like a battered wife. The extremist tirade has completely backfired on the GOP as Republicans are now facing pressure from the far-right to go through with the dubious action and are being sharply rebuked by sane Americans on the left, the right, and those in the center. But nobody has taken bigger hits than Sarah Palin since her column, and Bill Kristol added his own voice among those who want Palin to shut up and go away.

During an appearance on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Kristol slammed Palin for damaging the Republican Party with her extremist views.

“No responsible Republican official has called for impeachment,” Kristol pointed out. “And one problem with it is, of course, is you just get Joe Biden as president. The Republican task is to elect a Republican Senate, and to elect a Republican president in 2016, not to create a phony issue that allows Democrats to make Republicans look extreme.”

Indeed, Democrats have been able to take full advantage of Palin’s little rant. Since her column made national headlines, Democrats have raised over $400,000 in campaign donations and have managed to re-energize voters. This is exactly the kind of thing Republicans did not want to see happen. Unfortunately for them, they chose not to put a muzzle on Palin after the 2008 Election and are now reaping the results of the Tea Party movement they encouraged.

Bill Kristol isn’t the only one who wishes Sarah Palin would shut up and go back to where she came from. In fact, he’s not even the only Republican who desires this. In a survey conducted by Wall Street Journal/NBC News/Annenberg Public Policy Center, an overwhelming 52% of respondents, including 40% of Republicans, said that of all the people they would like to hear less from, they selected Sarah Palin as the person they want to see shut up the most. The poll was released a day after Palin called for President Obama’s impeachment in a column on Breitbart.

It has been six years since Sarah Palin thankfully failed to become one heartbeat away from the presidency, and Republicans are finally beginning to turn their backs on her. But they’ll need to do more than just call for Palin to be quiet. The GOP needs to back away from the extreme conservative base it has been pandering to over the years. Instead of worrying about the opinions of a small group of extremists, Republicans should worry about the opinions of the rest of the population. Because right now, Americans are sick and tired of right-wing lunacy and obstruction. There are serious problems in this country that need to be handled and solved reasonably, and if Republicans continue to do nothing just because of their hatred for one man, Americans will only clamor more for the return of Democratic majorities that actually did their jobs in Congress before the GOP took over in 2010.
