Fox News’ Elisabeth Hasselbeck Nastily Attacks Rosie O’Donnell For Returning To The View (VIDEO)

When Elisabeth Hasselbeck left The View for Fox News, it wasn’t much of a surprise. The conservative mouthpiece consistently and annoyingly pushed her right-wing ideology on the ABC program. By joining the propaganda arm of the GOP, she gained the ability to bring the crazy out in the open all the time. The last couple years have brought a lot of change to The View, and with Sherri Shepherd and anti-vaccination crackpot Jenny McCarthy leaving the show, the door has been opened for a former member of the team to return.

Rosie O’Donnell has signed on to resume her duties on The View. But Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn’t happy about it. She is so incensed in fact, that she actually called into Fox & Friends while on vacation to deliver a nasty tirade in response to the news.

“What could ruin a vacation more than to hear news like this?” Hasselbeck whined. “Here comes to The View the very woman who spit in the face of our military, spit in the face of her own network, and, really, in the face of a person who stood by her and had civilized debates for the time that she was there.”

Here’s the video via Entertainment Tonight.

Hasselbeck is referring to the time when her former The View co-host pointed out that the high death toll in Iraq, a result of an illegal invasion of the country engineered by the Bush Administration, would make American soldiers look like terrorists in the eyes of Iraqis and other nations in the Middle East. Of course, this rational ‘what if the shoe were on the other foot’ remark didn’t sit well with Hasselbeck, who staunchly defended Bush and the war in Iraq. O’Donnell posited an honest question to make Americans think, and considering Bush officials lied about why we had to go into Iraq and the fact that we weren’t greeted as liberators, O’Donnell was right to ask it.

O’Donnell’s first year on The View saw a 27% rise in the ratings, and her debates with Hasselbeck made the show more popular to watch than ever. Now that she’s back, we can expect O’Donnell to speak her mind again on issues that matter. By complaining about her, Hasselbeck is only generating more buzz around The View and revealing herself to be the petty mean girl she is. Now that one slot on the ABC talk show is filled, let’s just hope the network doesn’t decide to assault our brains by hiring Sarah Palin for the other. ABC would be far better off filling the spot with a smart conservative who won’t be spewing crazy partisan extremist rhetoric on a daily basis. Because while Rosie O’Donnell will offer blunt but intelligent commentary on the issue, Sarah Palin will only bring a screeching idiocy that a majority of Americans do not want to hear or be subjected to.
