KKK Forms Neighborhood Watch In Pennsylvania

kkkUnfortunately, it looks like grand wizard Frank Ancona’s nationwide flyer campaign for a KKK neighborhood watch program is picking up steam.

Due to a rash of break-ins, the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (AAKKK) (headquartered in Park Hills, Mo.) has granted a local Pennsylvania chapter approval for forming a neighborhood watch group similar to the one run by Ancona in Park Hills that caused a small stir last July.

The AAKKK fliers appeared on the front stoops of homes up and down Ridge Road in Fairview Township April 18 declaring:

You can sleep tonight knowing the Klan is awake!

The flier sports the name of the organization and includes an image of a hooded figure. Another line reads:

Are there troubles in your neighborhood? Contact the… Klan today.

Ancona told local PennLive:

It’s just like any neighborhood watch program. It’s not targeting any specific ethnicity. We would report anything we see to law enforcement. We don’t hate people. We are an organization who looks out for our race. We believe in racial separation. God created each species after its kind and saw that it was good.

Perhaps the grand wizard is not aware that different races do not constitute different species?

According to the American Knights website, local chapters exist in every state with the exception of Hawaii. The AAKKK also claims to be a “non-violent” and “law abiding” organization composed of solely white Christians who have simply been long “misunderstood.”

The AAKKK’s website states:

The Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is a White Patriotic Christian organization that bases its roots back to the Ku Klux Klan of the early 20th century. We are a non-violent organization that believes in the preservation of the White race and the United States Constitution as it was originally written and will stand to protect those rights against all foreign invaders. We believe in the right to bear arms against all that threaten our home and family.

The watch programs came about due to Ancona’s belief that police forces are overwhelmed and need civilian support to fight crime, in order for all to enjoy civil streets and neighborhoods. Who better to team up with local police then than a notoriously racist organization known for the lynching, harassment and murder of African Americans since its inception?

Perhaps the most troubling aspect of this new public relations campaign the Klan is brazenly pulling off is the national and cultural context in which it is unfolding.

Pennsylvania is a Stand Your Ground state. In the fading light of the Travyon Martin trial, after a string of blatant murders of African Americans at the hands of white people that stretching back hundreds of years, systemic racism talked about so much but understood so little, with “neighborhood watch” authority tuffs (the real “thugs”) achieving money and even celebrity for getting away with murder with a not even a slap on the wrist — it is alarming under any pretext for the Ku Klux Klan to start flexing its muscle, attempting to grow and patrol American neighborhoods again under the protection of the Stand Your Ground laws, even under the guise of a “neighborhood watch program.”
