The David Pakman Show – Does Marketing to Children = Pedophilia? (VIDEO)


Sut Jhally, Executive Director of the Media Education Foundation, joins David at the National Conference for Media Reform in Denver to discuss the documentary film Consuming Kids and the similarities between pedophilia and marketing to children.

Jhally makes the point that pedophiles want to “get something from kids, they don’t care about the kids themselves”: what they feel, what they need; not important. What they want is what kids have. He goes on to make the comparison that marketers operate from that same logic: they want to tap into what they can get from kids – brand loyalty for life or them pestering their parents to get the item being marketed.
