Pundit-On-Pundit Action: Stephen Colbert Declares War On Joe Scarborough (VIDEO)

colbert vs. scarborough

It’s not everyday that you get to see a couple of political pundits face off, but then again it’s not everyday that one of them has a sister running for Congress. As many of you likely know by now, Stephen Colbert, of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report, has a sister running to represent the constituents of South Carolina’s 1st District. Elizabeth Colbert Busch, who is running as a Democrat, is matched up against shamed Republican ex-governor Mark Sanford, who left office in 2011 after a scandal surrounding an extramarital affair. It was also revealed during a State Ethics Commission investigation that he had likely misused state funds, and he eventually reimbursed the state for a trip to Argentina. On an edition of his show, Joe Scarborough gave a lengthy and warm endorsement for Republican Mark Sanford, sparking Colbert’s hilarious — and not unexpected — reply.

They did indeed ask for it first. We predict a knockout in the third round with Colbert coming out the victor.

It should also be noted that Mark Sanford is the worst type of politician. Not only did he lie to the nation and his constituents about an extramarital affair (although I really couldn’t care less about what a politician does in the bedroom or who with; that’s his and his wife’s problem), but he was also quite outspoken during the Clinton impeachment process, calling his actions “reprehensible.” However, when it came out that Sanford was being unfaithful, he stated that, “There were a handful of instances wherein I crossed the lines I shouldn’t have crossed as a married man, but never crossed the ultimate line.”

Honesty? More like hypocrisy.
