Republican Rep. John Sullivan Says Shooting Democratic Senators Is The Only Way To Pass The Ryan Budget (AUDIO)

GOP Rep. John Sullivan claims he used a poor choice of words during a town hall in Oklahoma when he said that shooting Democratic Senators would be the only way to get Paul Ryan’s destructive budget through the US Senate. But I’m not buying his apology for one minute.

After expressing his support for the GOP budget that shreds Medicare, Sullivan told his constituents in Bixby, Oklahoma on Wednesday that killing Democratic Senators may be the only guarantee of it’s passage unless Democrats take heavy Election Day losses this November.

“Like I said, after this last election, the first order of business is pass a budget,” Sullivan declared. “Now, I believe that. I supported the Paul Ryan budget and sent it over to the Senate. Now I live with some Senators, I yell at them all the time, I grabbed one of them the other day and shook him and I’d love to get them to vote for it — boy I’d love that. You know but other than me going over there with a gun and holding it to their head and maybe killing a couple of them, I don’t think they’re going to listen unless they get beat.”

Here’s the incredible audio captured by Talking Points Memo http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/02/gop-rep-ill-personally-have-to-kill-some-senators-to-get-a-budget-passed-audio.php:

This is violent rhetoric at the highest level. Rep. John Sullivan is a disgrace to his office and should be forced to resign immediately. His apology is meaningless because the damage is already done. Right wing extremists are going to take his rhetoric as a cue to start taking shots at Democratic Senators in order to get their way on budgetary matters and other issues. I often wonder why Democrats surrender to GOP demands. Now I know. It’s because they are afraid of being killed outright by their political opponents. John Sullivan not only said that it would take the killing of Democrats to pass the Ryan Budget, he nearly fantasized about carrying a gun into the Senate, holding it to their heads, and killing them himself to achieve Republican goals. It’s despicable, unprofessional, and dangerous. Right wing rhetoric has led to death threats, the shooting of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the killing of Dr. George Tiller, and several other attempts by right wing groups to use violence against government. Gun sales have skyrocketed since 2008, militia activity is higher than ever, and conservative voters are filled with fear and hate. As the election approaches this November, we should expect more violent rhetoric and threats to come from the Republican Party as they become more and more desperate to conquer America with an iron fist. Politicians are supposed to be responsible about what they say, but in the case of the Republican Party, it’s clear that they don’t give a damn about the lives of their Democratic colleagues as long as they get what they want.
